Victorian Evenings in Maldon
A few years back I worked in Maldon, and the only chance I had to visit their famous Victorian shopping evening was lost due to a school carol concert.
Earlier I was chatting to one of my old work colleagues from Maldon and he asked if I was coming to the shopping evening. I had forgot all about it to be honest, it’s like when they do open air Shakespeare, I think that would be nice to go to, and then completely forget all about it!
then think I shall go next year.
Reading up about the Victorian Evening, I may take the girls next week. The road is closed off from 6-9pm and retailers dress in Victorian costumes. There is live music (Christmas Carols?) steam engines and barrel organs. The highlight of the evening is when Queen Victoria drives in her antique carriage through the town centre. Do they sell hot chestnuts as well?
Maldon does this twice a year, today and the 11th December. As I am networking across the river tonight, I cannot make it. Next Thursday I think is free in the diary, so a trip to Maldon is penciled in.
