Fire in Pilgrams Hatch
The mobile home was parked on Sadlers Farm, in Beadshall Lane, Pilgrims Hatch, and was 40 per cent alight as the first crew from Brentwood arrived at 1.45pm on Saturday.
Incident commander, Andy White of Brentwood fire station, said: “This was a large, static caravan. There was one single male living in the mobile home but he had been away for the weekend.”
Water shortages meant the crews needed support from colleagues from Ingatestone and Ongar.

Really sad news to read this. What’s sadder is the fire stations that have been closing due to costs etc, are needed now more than ever to support existing services.
It’s easy to blame ‘water shortages’ etc, it’s the human cost that worries me the most. Lucky this time, perhaps not the next…

Busy weekend….
From Thursday unil this morning, it seems like I have barely rested.
Thursday I took the girls to the Victorian evening in Maldon. They were not impressed, but I was. all the shop keepers dressed up in costume and they really made an effort. Yes there were hot chestnuts on sale and despite the girls insisting on having a bag, it was only me that ate them!
Friday was the younger girls school concert. K was a sheep
and she looked so cute, and she was the only sheep doing the actions to her role. She is a born performer that child! J was seated next to Joseph with tinsel in her hair, I have never seen her sit so still. They all sang so sweetly, I nearly cried. I missed all this with big J, as I was busy working. Had the dreadful vomiting virus. No as good as it’s cracked up to be – I didn’t lose any weight.
Saturday was the big shop and the run around East London. As it was my grandmothers birthday, my sister would be down in the day time and my neices and nephew would for the first year ever get their christmas presents on time. Only I had yet to buy them. so we went down to Beckton to buy them some presents. Both my neices are autistic and my sister is cagey about their ability, so it makes buying them a present really hard. I don’t want to buy something too hard for them and I don’t want to buy anything babyish… and in the fact that my sister will not give them anything pink – you have a Christmas shopping nightmare.
So, finally having settled on some colouring and a two play saxophones I rang my grandmother to make arrangements to give them to my sister, when my grandmother said she had cancelled her visit today as we were coming down… hmmm.
Sunday, the Carol Concert in Wickford. Big J cancels as she is feeling ill and her dads portuguese girlfriend is going to look after her… so we get my grandmother who despite being told to have something to eat before we went out, insists on having a McDonalds. I would like to think she does it on purpose, but I am no longer sure she does.
It was a bit when she opened the window but undid the car door instead when we were doping 50 miles an hour on the A13… Granny locks instead of child locks?
One more week to go, and then all the kids are off school and not just he litle ones.
