Adding everything to twitter, an Essex girls guide
March 16, 2009
An afternoon spent doing this, will save the discerning Essex girl (or guy) bucket loads of time and they will get far better use from twitter (as well as never forgetting another appointment, ever).
Go and get yourself the following:-
- A Twitter Account (I am @Essex_courier, if you leave a comment, leave your twitter name too)
- A Facebook account (thats if you are a sad sack who doesn’t have one, but if you are in Essex the chances are you have this already)
- An OpenID (the worst thing in the world to remember yet its supposed to make life easier)
- The URL for the RSS from your LinkedIn status/ Business Scene Account
1) Sign in to Twitterfeed with your OpenID.
2) Create an entry in Twitterfeed for your LinkedIn Status RSS. Route it to your Twitter account.
You enter your twitter name and click parse, and then your url and click parse, a little green tick will appear, don’t forget to click create, and you are off! the hardest part is done.
3) Add the Twitter application to your Facebook profile. You can find it by doing a Application search, it can’t be hard – I did it
4) Click on the button at the top of the Twitter application setup where it says “Want Twitter to update your Facebook status?” Click Yes, or rather click here
Now when you update your LinkedIN status / Business Scene, it will flow though to Twitter and then on to Facebook automatically.
Then add your RSS feeds from your blogs, Business Scene articles, BT Tradespace blogs and your other accounts elsewhere, so twitter is constantly twittering your message to potential customers. These can also be added into Plaxo so when you update one, you do the lot.
Twitter feeds are starting to show in Google, and they have search engines just for twitter called Twitter Search and Twellow where potential clients can find you.
No time for twitter?
Want to keep up with your tweets? well, it’s easy to do with Tweetlater. Tweetlater allows you to send an auto DM – this should be used to start a conversation and not be a total plug like “look at my website/fake tan/ false nails” you can also get a digest of all your replies sent to you at the end of the day in an email, so you can spare a minute, once a day to reply to all your tweets (very, very timesaving). Tweetlater will also allow you to schedule tweets, like your manicure / pedicure/ hair appointments once a day every day (like a reminder to yourself) as well as autofollow and auto un-follow.
Now, you can tweet like an Essex girl too

PS Nikki Pilkington has a super fabby course for those that want to get the most from it, for just £20 if you book by Friday 2oth of March 2009. Nikki has the perfect ‘hand holding yet turns you into a supertweeter‘ system devised, if you want to make the most out of twitter, give this a go.
